Consumer Complaint Reveals Missing Milk and Wheat Allergens in Meatballs -  Home Market Foods, Inc., a Norwood, Mass. establishment, is recalling approximately 53,217 pounds of frozen ready-to-eat beef and pork meatball products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the products contain milk and wheat which are not declared on the product label.   The problem was discovered when the firm received a consumer complaint reporting that the product was incorrectly labeled.

Consumer Complaint Reveals Missing Milk and Wheat Allergens in Beef Sticks -  CM&R Inc., a St. Paul, Minn. establishment, is recalling approximately 25 pounds of ready-to-eat beef stick products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens - the products contain milk which is not declared on the product label.   The problem was discovered when FSIS inspection program personnel determined that the firm had received a consumer complaint reporting that the product was incorrectly labeled.

Dried Fruit Missing Sulfites - Euphoria Fancy Food Inc of Brooklyn, NY is recalling its 500gram packages of “Tainy Vostoka Assorted Dry Fruits-Apple” because they contain undeclared sulfites.  The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the 500gram packages of “Tainy Vostoka Assorted Dry Fruits-Apple” which were not declared on the label.

WASHINGTON, July 25, 2019 – Home Market Foods, Inc., a Norwood, Mass. establishment, is recalling approximately 53,217 pounds of frozen ready-to-eat beef and pork meatball products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products contain milk and wheat, known allergens, which are not declared on the product label.

The frozen ready-to-eat beef and pork meatball items are labeled as “Homestyle Meatballs All Natural” products but may contain “Cranberry Stuffed Meatballs” products. The items were produced on April 2, 2019. The following products are subject to recall: [View labels (PDF only)]   
•48-oz. plastic bag packages of “COOKED PERFECT BRAND HOMESTYLE MEATBALLS All Natural” and Best If Used By 07/02/20.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 2727” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, and Rhode Island.                         

The problem was discovered when the firm received a consumer complaint reporting that the product was incorrectly labeled.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider. 

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify that recalling firms are notifying their customers of the recall and that actions are being taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. The ready-to-eat beef snack stick items are labeled as “Smoked & Uncured Maple Beef Snack Sticks” products but contain “Smoked & Uncured Mild Beef Sticks with Cheddar Cheese” products. The items were produced on June 19, 2019. The following products are subject to recall: [View labels (PDF only)]
•6-oz. plastic vacuum packed packages of “MARKET SAUSAGES SMOKED & UNCURED MAPLE BEEF SNACK STICKS” with lot code 1712019 and Sell-By: 9/15/19.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 45394” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Minnesota.

The problem was discovered when FSIS inspection program personnel determined that the firm had received a consumer complaint reporting that the product was incorrectly labeled.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

The recalled “Tainy Vostoka Assorted Dry Fruits-Apple” were distributed nationwide in retail stores and through mail orders. The product comes in 500gram, clear plastic package marked with container code #21 01 19 SS upc # # 4605932006197

No illness or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the 500gram packages of “Tainy Vostoka Assorted Dry Fruits-Apple” which were not declared on the label.
