Consumer Complaint For Milk Issue - a Waelder, Texas establishment is recalling approximately 4,050 pounds of chicken sausage products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, milk, which is not declared on the product label.  The problem was discovered when the firm received a customer complaint.

Inspectors Find Labels Missing Alergens - A Lititz, Pa. establishment is recalling approximately 1,925 pounds of turkey sausage products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens - wheat and soy, known allergens, which are not declared on the product label. The problem was discovered by FSIS inspection personnel during routine inspection activities.

Peanut Allergen Found by Government Lab - LOTTE Int’l America Corp. located in Los Angeles, CA is recalling its 1.48-ounce packages of "Kancho Choco Biscuit" manufactured by LOTTE Confectionery Co. Ltd. Korea because of findings of small amounts of peanut in the product and no peanut declaration.  LOTTE Int’l America Corp discovered this fact through lab test result done by CFIA and notified manufacturer and all customers right away about this discovery.  [Cross contamination issue or ingredient issue]

Gnocchi Label Misses Dairy - La Pasta Inc. of Silver Spring, Maryland is recalling the private label Potato Gnocchi manufactured for Heinen’s supermarkets because it may contain undeclared milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.  This voluntary recall was initiated due to a consumer reporting feeling ill after consuming the Heinen’s Potato Gnocchi. Company officials compared packaging with approved recipe and confirmed that product did contain MILK as part of the recipe formula but was not declared on the label.  [Label creation and approval error]

WASHINGTON, March 1, 2018 – J Bar B Foods, a Waelder, Texas establishment, is recalling approximately 4,050 pounds of chicken sausage products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The product contains milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.

The ready-to-eat chicken sausage items were produced on Feb. 3, 2018. The following products are subject to recall: [View Label (PDF only)]
12-oz. vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing “simple truth Chicken Sausage Links SPINACH GRUYERE,” with lot code 8034, case code 90394 and “SELL BY” date of APR 16 2018.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-7066” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Utah and Virginia.

The problem was discovered when the firm received a customer complaint.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.

WASHINGTON, March 1, 2018 – Sensenig Turkey Farm LLC, a Lititz, Pa. establishment, is recalling approximately 1,925 pounds of turkey sausage products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products contain wheat and soy, known allergens, which are not declared on the product label. 

The raw breakfast turkey sausage items were produced on various dates from Sept. 25, 2017 to Feb. 26, 2018. The following products are subject to recall: [View Label (PDF only)]
•10-lb. cases, each case containing two 5-lb. bulk packages of “Sensenig Turkey Farm LLC BREAKFAST TURKEY SAUSAGE.”
•1-lb. vacuum-sealed packages containing “Chestnut Farms BREAKFAST TURKEY SAUSAGE.”

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-38466” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The problem was discovered by FSIS inspection personnel during routine inspection activities.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.

Approximately 200 cases of Cherry SKI have been recalled.

The Double Cola Company is recalling approximately 200 cases of its Cherry SKI product because they are incorrectly labeled. Only the Cherry SKI products with the new design are being recalled, which were delivered to the southern Illinois, Evansville, IN and Winchester, OH markets. No other products of the Double Cola Company are being recalled.

The newly designed cans of Cherry SKI are being recalled because the nutrition facts are incorrect. The cans show "Red #4" under ingredients, which is incorrect. The ingredients should include "Red #40" and "Yellow #5." These dyes may cause a reaction to anyone allergic. The Double Cola Company has reported that no medical illnesses or harmful effects have resulted from this product thus far. Products affected are coded A8023EV10:25 through A8023EV11:40.

"We took immediate action once we were aware of the situation and recalled the product," said Gina Dhanani, Vice President of SKI. "The most important thing to us is that our consumers are safe."

Consumers who have purchased this product should not open the package or consume the product. Instead they should return the product to the location of purchase for a refund, or call the Double Cola Company at 423-267-5691 or 877-DBL-Cola.

LOTTE Int’l America Corp. located in Los Angeles, CA is recalling its 1.48-ounce packages of "Kancho Choco Biscuit" manufactured by LOTTE Confectionery Co. Ltd. Korea because of findings of small amounts of peanut in the product and no peanut declaration.

LOTTE Int’l America Corp discovered this fact through lab test result done by CFIA and notified manufacturer and all customers right away about this discovery.

Since LOTTE Int’l America Corp. is very well aware of the severe consequences of allergen reaction to peanuts, we voluntarily initiated recall procedure right after discovery of the problem. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. LOTTE Int’l America Corp is sending out the letter to all the customers including wholesalers, distributors, retailers who carries ‘Kancho Choco Biscuit’ to stop selling and recall all the products.

"Kancho Choco Biscuit " were distributed nationwide and Canada, mostly in ethnic retail stores and online stores.

The product comes in a 1.48-ounce, plastic wrap package within a paper carton package marked with UPC Code # 8801062 144815 on the side.

Production of the product has been suspended until FDA and the company are certain that the problem has been corrected.

LOTTE Int’l America Corp is working fully in partnership with FDA to fully investigate the matter and comply with all necessary recall procedures. The Company is also taking the necessary steps to address this issue and apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this product issue.

La Pasta Inc. of Silver Spring, Maryland is recalling the private label Potato Gnocchi manufactured for Heinen’s supermarkets because it may contain undeclared milk. Product was distributed throughout Heinen’s stores in OH and IL.

Heinen’s Potato Gnocchi is sold in 9 oz. clear film plastic trays with the label shown below (see pictures in page 2). Product tray measures 8 x 6 x 1 ¾ inches.

Product LOT# is composed of a four digit number and can be found on the side of the tray printed in black ink. LOT codes involved in this recall are:

1119-1120 / 1121-1122 / 1132-1133 / 2016-2017 / 2027-2028 / 2034-2035 / 2038-2039 / 2130-2131 / 2139-2140 / 2221-2222 / 2231-2232

This voluntary recall was initiated due to a consumer reporting feeling ill after consuming the Heinen’s Potato Gnocchi. Company officials compared packaging with approved recipe and confirmed that product did contain MILK as part of the recipe formula but was not declared on the label.

Affected product was immediately removed from all stores and it will be replaced with a corrected label version that includes all allergens in the formula.

Consumers who have purchased the HEINEN’S POTATO GNOCCHI 9 oz pack UPC# 02060141062 are urged to return it to your nearest store for a full refund.
