CT Firm Recalls Breaded Broccoli Product For Undeclared Allergens

Gracie’s Kitchens of New Haven, CT, is recalling its 20-ounce packages of "King Kullen Broccoli Cutlets with Bread Crumbs and Parmesan" because they may contain undeclared sesame and wheat.  The recall was initiated after it was discovered that a product containing sesame and wheat didn’t include the full ingredient breakdown on the ingredient panel.  The ingredient panel lists Bread Crumbs, but does not break down that into ingredients such as wheat, and thus those are not listed on the label.

CT Firm Recalls Bread Due to Undeclared Egg Inadvertently Applied as Egg Wash

Roly Poly Bakery of New Britain, CT is recalling its 20 ounce loafs of Roly Poly multigrain bread because the product contains undeclared egg product.   The recall was initiated after it was discovered during an audit that a production employee used an egg wash instead of water to apply sunflower or oat ingredients on external product’s surface.

NY Firm Recalls Gluten-Free Bagels After Complaint for Adverse Reaction to Gluten

Feel Good Foods, based in New York, is voluntarily recalling its Gluten-Free Plain and Everything flavored Cream Cheese Stuffed Mini Bagels. The products may contain undeclared gluten that may be present due to cross-contamination.  The recall was initiated after the company received one (1) consumer report of an adverse reaction to gluten. As a result of this incident, Feel Good Foods is immediately recalling the product and is implementing measures to prevent reoccurrence.

“Once we were made aware of trace amounts of gluten cross-contamination to Feel Good Foods’ Gluten-Free Plain and Everything flavored Cream Cheese Stuffed Mini Bagels, we contacted the FDA and took swift action to voluntarily recall the impacted product,” said Vanessa Phillips, founder of Feel Good Foods. “As a founder who is personally affected by celiac disease, ensuring the integrity and safety of our gluten-free products is of the utmost importance. Michigan Company Recalls Potato Salad with Wrong Ingredient Label

Home Style Foods, Inc., of Hamtramck, MI, is voluntarily recalling 43 cases of “Kowalski Simply Sides - Jack’s Potato Salad” due to an incorrect label resulting in an undeclared egg allergen.  The recalled product is labeled on the top and front as Kowalski Simply Sides - Jack’s Potato Salad and has sell by date of 04/29/2024. The back label containing the Nutrition Facts and Ingredients is incorrectly labeled as “Very Berry Strawberry”, in a 16oz round plastic deli cup.  During the filling of the cups the incorrect label was applied to the back of the product. During routine documentation review the error was discovered by Quality Assurance.

Baron Spices, Inc. of St. Louis, MO is recalling 708 units of Blues Hog Sweet and Savory Seasoning, because it may contain undeclared Soy and Wheat allergen.  A supplier to Baron Spices, Inc sent a replacement ingredient and did not disclose that it included allergens. The replacement ingredient contained soy and wheat whereas the original product did not contain either allergen.

Florida Company Recalls Ice Cream Product for Undeclared Allergens

Belgian Yummies of Fort Myers, FL, is alerting the public that its 4-ounce packages of Ice Cream Sandwiches and 5-liter containers and 4.75-liter pans of Gelato contains undeclared allergens.  The recall was initiated after Belgian Yummies and the Florida Department of Agriculture discovered during an inspection that the product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of wheat, soy, egg, coconut and/or peanuts and FD&C Yellow #5. The problem was caused by outdated labels being used during the packaging process.  Labels were immediately corrected, and ingredient lists were provided to all wholesale customers who received the affected products.

FDA Issues Warning Letter to Illinois Firm After Mispacking Peanut Product Into Containers Labeled as Raisin Product

FDA issued a Warning Letter to Regal Health Food International, Inc. of Chicago IL regarding the Regal Gourmet Snacks Milk Chocolate Raisins in that the finished product label did not declare a major food allergen, peanuts. 
  • The firm recalled the product labeled Regal Gourmet Snacks Milk Chocolate Raisins after being notified by a consignee of a consumer complaint regarding milk chocolate peanuts being found in containers labeled as milk chocolate raisins. The firm indicated in documentation provided to the Human and Animal Food Operations (OHAFO) East Division 6 Recall Coordinator that milk chocolate peanuts were packed into tubs labeled “Milk Chocolate Raisins” due to an error in the packing process by (b)(4) packers.
  • This documentation also described the proposed corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence including: retraining employees on packing procedures, additional labeling of work in progress products, additional product and label confirmation steps and using an (b)(4) line which will have less opportunities for this type of error.
