Alabama Food Truck Company Recalls Stew Product After Distributing Without Getting USDA Inspection

Pop’s Que and Stew, an Opelika, Ala. establishment, is recalling approximately 12,472 pounds of frozen stew products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection.  The products subject to recall do not bear the USDA mark of inspection because Pop’s Que and Stew is not a federally inspected establishment. These items were shipped to retail locations in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, and Tennessee.  The problem was discovered during routine FSIS surveillance activities when it was determined that the Brunswick stew products did not have the USDA mark of inspection and were produced in an establishment that was not inspected by USDA.

Pop’s Que and Stew is a caterer / food truck based upon their Facebook page.  In their July 13, 2021 posting, it is clear that the company ventured into distribution and thus falling under USDA oversight.
