This Week in Mislabeled Product - Week Ending 9/15/18

Improper Labeling - Garden Grove, CA is recalling Asian Fusion Cookies due to undeclared allergens of wheat, milk and soy.  The recall was initiated after an inspection by the California Department of Public Health, Food and Drug branch determined that the cookies had been distributed without proper allergen labeling.

Supplier Issue - McCormick & Company, Inc. is initiating a voluntary recall of Meijer Taco Seasoning Mix 4.5 OZ bottle due to an unlabeled milk allergen.  McCormick has alerted Meijer Foods to remove the product with the affected date codes from store shelves and distribution centers immediately, and to destroy this product in a manner that would prevent further consumption

Sarap Asian Fusion of Garden Grove, CA is recalling Asian Fusion Cookies due to undeclared allergens of wheat, milk and soy. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat or soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The product was distributed through online mail orders to the following states:

AE, AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, GU, HI, IL, IN, JK, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, WV, & WY

The cookies are sold in Heat Sealed, Polypropylene Bags, 4.5 in x 6 in.
There have been no reports of illness or injury to date.
The recall was initiated after an inspection by the California Department of Public Health, Food and Drug branch determined that the cookies had been distributed without proper allergen labeling.

Flavors:
•Miso Milo – undeclared wheat and soy
•Matcha Chocolate – undeclared wheat and soy
•Black Sesame – undeclared wheat, soy, and milk
•Ube Cookies and Cream – undeclared wheat, soy, and milk

Please do not consume this product if purchased between 8/14/18 - 9/10/18, due to insufficient allergen details. Please discard if you’re allergic to any of the undeclared ingredients above. If you’re not allergic to any of these ingredients, you may safely consume these products. For best quality, consume within two weeks of purchase.

McCormick & Company, Inc. is initiating a voluntary recall of Meijer Taco Seasoning Mix 4.5 OZ bottle due to an unlabeled milk allergen.

This recall does not impact any other sizes of Meijer Taco Seasoning.

To date, Meijer has not reported any allergic reactions related to this product. In sensitive individuals, products containing milk can cause illness or severe reactions.

Consumers do not need to return the product to the store where it was purchased. Instead, consumers are urged to dispose of the recalled product and its container. Please contact Consumer Affairs at 1-800-632-5847, weekdays from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM (Eastern Time) with inquiries.

Market of Choice, based in Eugene, Ore., is recalling its Gourmet Take Away Sesame Noodle Salad Vegan, because it contains undeclared egg. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggrun the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

The Gourmet Take Away Sesame Noodle Salad Vegan, packaged in 8 oz and 16 oz containers, was sold at Market of Choice stores in Ashland, Eugene, Bend, Corvallis, Portland and West Linn in Oregon between July 30, 2018 through Sept. 7, 2018.

The 8 oz. (UPC 0211630203994) and 16 oz. (UPC 0 211637 807492) containers have the Sell By dates of 8/4/18 through 9/13/18.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that product containing egg was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of egg. Thisr ecall is being made with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Customers who purchased the Sesame Noodle Salad Vegan with the affected sell by dates and have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg are urged not to consume product and should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
