This Week in Mislabeled Product - Ending 10/13/17

Whole Foods Market stores is voluntarily recalling 365 Everyday Value Organic Raisin Bran because the product contains undeclared peanuts that were not listed on the product label.  The issue was discovered after Whole Foods Market determined the packaging contained Peanut Butter Cocoa Balls instead of Organic Raisin Bran.

A Tennessee firm is recalling 816 Premium Chicken Salad Wheatberry Sandwich Lot Number 17 198 because they have the wrong ingredient statement and contain undeclared eggs and soy.  The recall was initiated after Quality Assurance discovered that product containing the allergens was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of the allergen. The ingredient statement on the affected product is for a different sandwich.

General Mills is voluntarily recalling two days of production of Cascadian Farm Organic Cinnamon Raisin Granola cereal produced on July 15 and 16, 2017 because the product may contain almonds, an undeclared nut allergen. 

La Terra Fina is voluntarily recalling its 10 oz. containers of Spinach Artichoke & Parmesan Dip & Spread with the date of BEST BY NOV-01-2017 due to undeclared egg.  The issue was discovered after receiving notification from a retailer that the ingredient statement and UPC code were for a different dip.

A PA firm is recalling Pennsylvania is voluntarily recalling one lot of Hannaford Supermarkets’ potato salad because it may contain undeclared egg.  "The recall was initiated after it was discovered that certain packages of the recalled product contained an ingredient and nutrition label from another product [Taste of Inspirations Rotini Salad] that did not reveal the presence of egg."

Whole Foods Market stores is voluntarily recalling 365 Everyday Value Organic Raisin Bran because the product contains undeclared peanuts that were not listed on the product label. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The affected product was sold in Whole Foods Market stores in the U.S. and online at Amazon.com. The product was packaged in 15 oz. boxes labeled 365 Everyday Value Organic Raisin Bran with UPC code 9948243903 and best-by date of June 4, 2018. The issue was discovered after Whole Foods Market determined the packaging contained Peanut Butter Cocoa Balls instead of Organic Raisin Bran. All affected product has been removed from store shelves and online. No reactions have been reported to date.

Customers who purchased this product at Whole Foods Market can bring a valid receipt into stores for a full refund. Customers who purchased the product online will receive additional information via email. Great American Deli of Ooltewah, Tennessee is recalling 816 Premium Chicken Salad Wheatberry Sandwich Lot Number 17 198 because they have the wrong ingredient statement and contain undeclared eggs and soy. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs or soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Product was distributed in Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia to convenience stores and vending machines.

The affected product weighs 6.4 ounces and is packaged in plastic containers labelled: Great American Deli Premium Chicken Salad Wheatberry – Lot Number 17 198 (which is located on the top left front of each package).

There have been no illnesses reported to date.

The recall was initiated after Quality Assurance discovered that product containing the allergens was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of the allergen. The ingredient statement on the affected product is for a different sandwich.

Consumers who have purchased the affected sandwiches are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-800-343-1327 Monday – Friday 8:00 AM ET to 5:00 PM

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- General Mills is voluntarily recalling two days of production of Cascadian Farm Organic Cinnamon Raisin Granola cereal because of an undeclared allergen. There have been no reports of illness.

Cascadian Farm Organic Cinnamon Raisin Granola cereal produced on July 15 and 16, 2017 is being recalled because the product may contain almonds, an undeclared nut allergen.

General Mills will recall affected Cascadian Farm Organic Cinnamon Raisin Granola cereal produced on those dates from customer warehouses and store shelves. Consumers with nut allergies should not consume products bearing the affected code dates and should contact General Mills for a replacement or full refund.

This voluntary recall includes Cascadian Farm Organic Cinnamon Raisin Granola cereal with the following "BETTER IF USED BY" code dates and the plant code JK:

La Terra Fina is voluntarily recalling its 10 oz. containers of Spinach Artichoke & Parmesan Dip & Spread with the date of BEST BY NOV-01-2017 due to undeclared egg. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The product was sold at retailers located in the states as outlined in the chart below.

La Terra Fina Spinach Artichoke & Parmesan Dip is in a 10 oz. container and is usually stocked in the deli or produce sections with other dips, hummus and guacamole. The best by date can be found on the top label.

The issue was discovered after receiving notification from a retailer that the ingredient statement and UPC code were for a different dip. The correct UPC for the La Terra Fina Spinach Artichoke & Parmesan Dip & Spread 10 oz. containers should be 6-40410-51327-3; however, the affected units may scan as 6-40410-51350-1.

There have been no reports of illness in relation to these products. The FDA is aware that the company is taking this voluntary action, which is out of an abundance of caution for consumers’ well-being and safety.

Only products with the BEST BY NOV-01-2017 date are being recalled. Retailers who have received these shipments have been instructed to destroy all product within this lot code and send verification stating quantities, dates and method. Consumers who have purchased these products and have an allergy to eggs are urged to discard or return to the place of purchase for a full refund. A.S.K. Foods, Inc. of Palmyra, Pennsylvania is voluntarily recalling one lot of Hannaford Supermarkets’ TASTE OF INSPIRATIONS CLASSIC RED SKIN POTATO SALAD Net Wt. 16 oz. (454g) because it may contain undeclared egg. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled Classic Red Skin Potato Salad was distributed and sold at Hannaford Supermarkets in ME, NY, MA, NH and VT.

The recalled product was packaged in 16 ounce (454g) clear plastic containers having a label that states Taste of Inspirations Classic Red Skin Potato Salad on the lid. The recalled product has a code on the lid that states “SELL BY: 10-20-17   4909-1” and is mis-marked with the incorrect UPC 25439 98422 on the side/bottom label.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that certain packages of the recalled product contained an ingredient and nutrition label from another product [Taste of Inspirations Rotini Salad] that did not reveal the presence of egg.  People who have an allergy or sensitivity to egg should not consume the recalled Classic Red Skin Potato Salad.  If you still have this salad, please return it to the Hannaford Supermarket store that you purchased it from for a full refund.
