Employee Fired after Posting a Photo of Himself Standing on Food

A restaurant employee took a photo of himself standing on chopped lettuce. He then posted it on the 4chan website. Other website users were outraged and tracked him down by using the GPS data included in the picture and then contacted restaurant management. He was later fired along with two other employees who took the picture.

My question is whether firing an employee is enough. Didn’t this employee just intentionally contaminate food? To me, this is a criminal act and this guy should be arrested.

It is hard enough for managers to keep food safe without having to worry about twisted employees deliberating sabotaging the operation.

Three Burger King employees
have been fired over a viral photograph of a worker standing atop opened bins of lettuce at the Cleveland-area fast food joint.

The funky photo was reportedly taken as a joke at the Burger King in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.

It was posted online earlier this week on 4Chan.com with the caption, “This is the lettuce you eat at Burger King.”

Readers angry about the grimy grub quickly tracked down the restaurant’s location through GPS data embedded in the photo and reportedly hassled the branch manager.

Burger King Corp. said it was “taking the issue very seriously” and won’t tolerate employees violating the chain’s strict procedures for handling food.

“The franchise has taken swift action to investigate this matter and has terminated the three employees involved in the incident,” the company said in a statement to the Daily News.
